Acupuncture originated in China over 3,000 years ago. It is the art of inserting fine needles at specific points along the body’s meridians to stimulate, disperse and regulate the flow of Qi (pronounced “chi”). This in turn helps to remove blockages and aims to increase the function of the organs and bring about balance to the body, as well as, raise energy levels and sooth the mind and spirit.
To determine which acupuncture points will be used, a pulse and tongue diagnosis will be taken, along with a full in-depth case history. This helps to find out how your imbalances came about and enables me to work out a treatment plan and give advice on any life style issues that may be preventing good health.
Massage is a non-invasive practice of applying pressure or vibration to the soft tissues of the body, including muscles, connective tissue, tendons, ligaments and joints. Massage can be applied to parts of the body or to the whole body, either by applying oil to the skin or through the recipients clothing, depending on preference. Massage is used to treat injuries, relieve psychological stress, manage pain, improve circulation and relieve tension. It can be used on its own or preceding an acupuncture session especially for those suffering from injuries or stress.
